Patents are kept under general anesthesia. Your doctor cuts three smalls slits for about 1cm in your abdomen. A thin, flexible tube containing a tiny camera is passed through one of the slits. Now surgeon will pass the camera to visualize the placement of the Lap-Band. The other slits are used to accommodate surgical instruments.

Step 2. Lap-Band Placement

The doctor inserts the band through one of the openings in your abdomen and places it around the upper part of your stomach and fastens the band with a lock to hold it in place just like a wrist watch. Forming a 15cc small pouch that will hold the food.

Now through tube band is attached to access port which is underneath the skin on the upper part of the abdomen. After this saline is injected through this port which expand the band. The result is the creation of a new, smaller stomach pouch that reduces the capacity of the stomach and consequently limits the amount of food you eat.

While patients will feel some discomfort immediately after surgery, it is minor compared to the discomfort experienced after a large incision. Most patients comfortably able to leave hospital the following day.
