Laser Hair Removal Systems At Clinics - Diode Laser (800-810nm)

In recent years, the diode laser has become the superstar of laser hair removal. It is the best overall machine for treating all six skin types based on safety and long term use especially satisfactory to skin types I-IV. Diode has a longer wavelength than others except Nd:Yag Laser, this longer wavelength enables the light to penetrate deeper and is theoretically safer than shorter wavelength lasers because it can better avoid the melanin pigment in the skin's epidermis. The Diode laser's longer wavelength of light thereby penetrates into the hair follicle without causing as much epidermal injury as the Ruby or the Alexandrite. This fact allows the Diode laser to be used on darker skin colors than the Ruby or Alexandrite.

While it's true that all skin types, including darker complexions, may be treated with the diode laser, the best results are seen in those who are types I and II and characterized by light skin that does not tan well. Although improvements have been made in diode techniques, people with naturally dark pigmented skin or deep tans still require multiple careful sessions to achieve a desired result. It also doesn't work well on individuals with light colored hair containing very little melanin or finer hair.

Diode laser has fast repetition rates and covers large areas, it allows for fast treatment of larger body areas and tend to recover faster. Side effects from Diode laser hair reduction treatment are minimal, but there may be redness on the treated area. This redness should disappear within two days. Sometimes, there are adverse pigmentary effects occur, but are transient.

Diode laser Equipments Available

Soprano XL - Alma, Pain-Free, Hair-Free

The Soprano XL is the perfect benchmark of innovative technological advancement. With its 810-nm diode and Alma's exclusive IN-Motion technology, the Soprano system delivers pain-free, speed, safety, effectiveness, superior results hair removal and reduction for all skin types.

Using CW Pulse™ technology allows homogeneous distribution and more effective fluence to be delivered with improved patient comfort. The unique pulse structure of SopranoXL incorporates two discrete pulses. The first is a preheated long pulse that safely heats the tissue; the second short pulse effectively destroys the hair follicle and its surrounding vasculature. This gradually heats the follicle and chromophores rather than a quick blast. When the chromophores and follicle have heated to the proper temperature, the follicle becomes damaged and can no longer produce new hair.

The Soprano XL also features the Sapphire cooling tip to cool the skin, making for a virtually painless procedure. And with a 12×10 mm spot size, it can deliver those results faster.

LightSheer Duet From Lumenis

The LightSheer system is same as The Soprano XL. It advanced high-power diode technology delivers high fluence combined with a large spot size, user-selected pulse width, aggressive contact cooling and compression for high-performance.

Lumenis's LightSheer Duet uses vacuum technology to gently suction the skin bringing the hair follicle closer to the laser itself. It is the essential element of pain reduction in the LightSheer Duet. The skin is suctioned closer to the energy source and senses the suction rather than the pulse. The skin is stretched thin reducing the number of melanocytes in the skin so that less of the energy is absorbed by the epidermis. Furthermore, the vacuum pressure constricts the blood vessels causing the skin to blanch, or become somewhat white, so that there are less chromophores. When the laser pulses, less of the energy is lost to the chromophores so that more of it can reach the melanin in the hair. The energy is absorbed by the melanin, heat builds up, and the follicle is damaged and unable to regrow the hair. The procedure is virtually pain free and is performed without topical anesthetics.

Comparsion Soprano & LightSheer

Soprano XL is slightly less painful than LightSheer, but the LightSheer provided better hair reduction results. So patients who are treated by Soprano will need more treatments to achieve the same result as the LightSheer.

Wavelength : 800-810 nm
Repetition Rate : 1-3 Hz
Spot Size : 12 mm
Fluence Range : Up To 120 J/cm2

Treatment Fitzpatrick Skin Type

1. Recommend Skin Type I, II, III
2. Possibly Skin Type IV, V
3. Maybe Skin Type VI

It has a longer wavelength provides deeper and safer penetration into the skin, provide better results to dark-skinned people.
Patients with thick or coarse hair will see a delay in hair growth. Some patients will see a permanent reduction in hair growth.
Lets larger areas of the body recover faster.

Side Effects

Diode laser is not effective for fine hair.
It have been linked with the onset of urticaria in some patients.
You may get burns, scars, discoloration of the skin, swelling, and redness as side effects.
