6 Steps To Waxing Male Chest Or Back Hair At Home

Waxing is one of the best ways to temporarily remove unwanted hair of back and chest for men. Although it is a bit painful, but can last up to 8 weeks. Home waxing kits are widely available at retail stores, drugstores, beauty supply stores and range from $10 and up, salons typically start at $50. Home wax kits are relatively inexpensive, however, if you are going to waxing your chest and back at home, you may ask for help from a friend or loved one. The another benefits of having a professional perform is that the professionals are more capable of handling complications and reducing pain.

Step 1 : Check Your Skin

Before you apply any wax, be sure your skin doesn't have any abrasions, burns, cuts or other contagious skin condition. Applying wax to damaged skin can cause further irritation and may lead to serious infection. If you use Roaccutane, Retin-A , steroid cream, Differin or most acne products, you will need to wait for six months after finishing medication, as these medications can make the skin fragile and dry which is unsuitable for waxing.

Step 2 : Thoroughly Wash & Trim The Hairs

Clean your back with warm soap and water, this will help ensure the wax adheres properly to the hair.
While hairs need to be at least 1/8 inch long to wax, they also shouldn't be too long. More than 3/4 inch can be quite painful.

Step 3 : Do A Test

Some people can be particularly sensitive or even allergic to the wax. For this reason, it's highly recommended that you apply a small amount of wax and let it sit on your skin for a few minutes, just to be sure you don't have a reaction to it.

Step 4 : Apply Wax

Get your helper to apply a good amount of wax in the same direction of the hair growth to the hair that you want to remove.

Step 5 : Apply & Tear Cloth Off

Once your helper has finished applying the wax, she will want to apply strips of cloth over the wax and rub the wax into the cloth. Rip the cloth off in one swift pull away rapidly against the growth direction, the hair goes with it. Painful, yes, but if you pull it quickly the pain will be less than if you try to remove it slowly. Repeat until you have finished removing all of the hair.

The first home waxing may be uncomfortable even it can break out. The chest will be a little more sensitive than the back, but each time it will become less painful because of the weakening of the hair follicles. Most guys repeat their waxing every 6-8 weeks. If you go sooner, like every 4 weeks, the hairs are still young and not established, so it tends to be less painful.

Step 6 : Care Skin

Complete the removal of your hair through waxing by applying a layer of moisturizer or a cooling gel like Aloe Vera.
Remain shirtless if possible for a couple of hours or wear a white cotton t-shirt against your skin.
Don't apply cologne or strongly scented creams right away.
Don't take a steam or dry sauna immediately after. Wait until the next day.
Don't go swimming or hang out in a hot tub for at least 12 hours.
Don't suntan or stay out in the sun for prolonged periods for at least 12 hours, 24 is better.
